HEMP

When dropping the word "hemp", you might at first not think of it as a fibre for making clothes. While the male hemp plant provides some of you with something called marihuana, the female hemp plant gives us an amazing sustainable fibre to make textiles of. Hemp is one of the strongest natural fibres that you can find. Plus, it needs approximately half as much land and water as cotton does to thrive. Hemp also absorbs CO2 while it grows through natural photosynthesis, making it carbon-negative from the get-go. Hemp has kicked cotton’s ass already! Ragged is working with Stexfibers, who make super soft hemp fibres which we use for our clothing. This means our clothes are garantueed with good quality, but also have a positive effect on the environment.

Check out the video below about stexfibres and how they make their hemp fibres for our clothes! (Because the company is Dutch from origin, the video is in Dutch. But you can turn your Youtube subtitles on, located in the right corner on the bottom of the video.)
